Another wonderful couple who had been thwarted by the Covid pandemic, finally got to tie the knot at the end of April. Sue and Alyn got married at the registery office in Usk with just a few family members to witness the official ceremony. But celebrations soon started in full flow, once they reached the cosy and hospitable Rock and Fountain Inn situated on the A48 in Penhow. All their family, friends, children and grandchildren were there waiting for them. They did not want to miss out on throwing a neverending supply of confetti. Fortunately for this lovely bride and groom there was a great lull in the horrible weather, so nobody got soggy or wet! It had been raining all morning and stopped just as the wedding car arrived. It definitely put paid to the children running around with bubbles, but it also meant that Sue and Alyn’s grandson Charlie has a wonderful selection of bugs and worms to examine. Boys will be boys, and their younger grandson had been been in hospital the day before after bumping his head, leaving him with cuts and bruises to show off on the wedding day. Children always make weddings fun, and there are always so many photo opportunities with them, so we may not have had bubbles on the green but the darling grandaughters threw so much pink rose petal confetti, looking like little angels in their baby pink tulle dresses. The wedding “cake” was a fabulous display of different tiers of cheeses and fruits, and the tables set off nicely with numerous candles, adding ambience to the pretty old barn at The Rock. The bride wore a dress chosen by her husband ( very brave ! ) , The amazing bouquet was a delight, in huge pink peonies, displayed with gypsophelia, and lovely late spring flowers, all picked from Sue’s daughter garden and displayed and arranged by Hannah herself! I think that Alyn and Sue had the exact wedding they wanted, chilled ( when Sue conquered her nerves about the photography ) laid back, and full of love, surrounded by those they love most. Huge congratulations and love, luck, and laughter to the new Mr and Mrs!!
