Helen and Tod wanted to enjoy a laid-back wedding day, surrounded by family and friends at their local pub in Mathern, a small village near Chepstow in South Wales. They’re the least stuffy couple you could wish to meet, and I knew it would be a day full of fun and emotion. Helen is an awesome singer, and Tod plays drums in a band, so I knew they would be a little rock and roll. Helen was so excited about her hand tooled cowboy boots, shipped especially from the USA that she showed me photographs of them, along with her dress, well before the day itself. On the day, she looked fabulous!
The ceremony took place at The Mansion House in Newport. Tod arrived in a Mark 1 Escort, which attracted a lot of attention and admiration as it roared into the car park! He seemed very chilled and relaxed as he waited with his two best men for Helen to arrive. She looked so stunning as she walked in to meet him, to Christina Perri’s “I’ve Loved You For a Thousand Years” making her a little teary eyed. I love when brides and grooms get emotional! I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the house, but it was all mixed with so much laughter. The newlyweds pulled faces while signing the register, and you couldn’t help but get caught up in their happiness. Tod looked pretty thrilled!
After taking photos around this beautiful house, they were whisked away by Ben the Hat in the coolest VW camper ever, and headed off to Mathern village. Helen and Tod hit the well stocked mini bar, and enjoyed the Jack Daniels they found there. I told you it was rock and roll! The weather was dry but a little chilly, but luckily Mathern was brightened up by lots of laughing, and oceans of cheery daffodils.
The after party was held in Mathern’s local village pub The Millers Arms. Fittingly there was a rugby international playing, and the atmosphere was buzzing! Lots of cheering, both for Helen and Tod, and for Wales! ( They didn’t win that day…but I think Tod looked like he’d won the whole championship ) The landlord had organised a buffet to die for! The table was laden with food, and to top it all there were cupcakes with mini drum kits to decorate them!
The evening’s entertainment was provided by none other than Helen and Tod themselves, accompanied by various friends as they provided the music. It’s not every day you see a bride belting out an ACDC number, with her new husband belting out the beat right next to her, but then Helen and Tod were a very special bride and groom, and I’d like to wish them all the best for their future together.
