Kayleigh and Jon’s Spring Wedding in Caldicot

Just married

Kayleigh and Jon’s wedding was at St.Mary’s Church in Caldicot, ( a medieval church and grade 1 listed building ),  on a very typical April day! I think we had everything from dark skies, to showers, to blazing sunshine.

After taking photos at Kayleigh’s grandmothers home of the bridal preparations, I set off to get shots of the nervous but happy bridegroom, Jon. The church was bedecked in large displays of gypsophilia, giving a fresh spring mood, and the grounds were full of the petals of magnolia. Everybody waited happily for the gorgeous bride to arrive with beaming Dad, Wayne. She looked radiant in a gown and veil that seemed to glow in the spring sunshine. Her bouquet was a stunning mixture of daffodils, butter toned roses,  and hyacinths to add a splash of cheerful colour, her bridesmaids dressed in complementary  pale lilac.

The service itself was beautiful, I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the house. From a photographers point of view it means emotional photography!… what could be more lovely?! This sweet couple are probably two of the happiest people I’ve met. They even laughed when the rain poured down as they came out of the church, and everybody dashed around for umbrellas and shelter. But it wouldn’t be April without a shower or two, and it soon disappeared leaving more fine weather for photography at Caldicot Castle. The grounds are perfect for bridal portraits, and the pretty soft light really enhanced Kayleigh’s beautiful complexion and when you have two people as full of joy as these two, I knew we would have some romantic, and happy images.

And on to the Coldra Court Hotel in Newport for a magical wedding reception.  Twinkling lights, and lots of little keepsakes reflecting our Welsh heritage gave the venue a very special feel. A large backlit display of “Cariad”, the Welsh word for love, and affection, added a really nice touch to this wonderful and happy occasion.

All my weddings make me happy, how could you not get swept up in a day that is full of good wishes, love and hope for the future?
